Assaí Atacadista, operated by Sendas Distribuidora S.A., is one of Brazil's largest cash-and-carry (atacarejo) wholesale retailers. Founded in 1974 in São Paulo by Rodolfo Jungi Nagai, it was acquired by Grupo Pão de Açúcar in 2007 and spun off as an independent listed company in 2021. Assaí operates roughly 300 stores across 24 Brazilian states and the Federal District, serving both small business customers and end consumers, and trades on B3 as ASAI3 and on the NYSE as ASAI.
